Now I am glad we visited Auschwitz camp first. Anything you see after Auschwitz seems like a holiday. Well, not really, but close enough.
Terezin was framed to look like the jews were treated as humanly possible by the germans. You know, to look good in the Red Cross reports. And avoid the questions the other countries might have asked. No news in that.
We knew it was not strict the moment we saw a jewish chapel that they had managed to keep a secret from the german eyes. In Auschwitz the only thing you could keep a secret was how many times you´d yawned that day. Besides... it was hot, and the birds were singing, and there were flowers everywhere... So we didn´t really belive the Terezin sufferings. Not like we should have.On the way back we photographed a beautiful land of flowers. And then we came across a village with what it looked like an old cathedral and an even older patio. Not very well taken care of but that is what made it magical.
I guess in Czech Rep. you are reminded all the time about the horrors of extreme fascism and comunism. That shows today in most aspects of life: culture, ideals, way of thinking... No wonder, really, that people are the way they are...
